Purpose |
Microsoft changed the registry keys for Internet Explorer from version 9 to version 10. Here is the workaround to get the correct inventory version listed. This guide will show you how to add a new custom registry key and add this information to the inventory scanner.
Instructions |
Step 1 - Open the Managed Software List
Step 2 - Click on Customer Data - Registry Items, then click on the green +.
Step 3 - Add the following information into the fields and click OK.
Step 4 - Click the Make Available to Clients button.
Step 5 - Wait for a new inventory scan to happen (by default it runs daily, usually in the early morning) or pick a machine and right click and run a full sync scan.
Step 6 - Verify that the inventory correctly picked up the new Custom Field by double clicking on the inventory, and Looking under Custom Data - Inventory Explorer 10+
Step 7 - You may want to now create a query for this to see all machines Internet Explorer Versions that are 10 and above. Remember that a new inventory must have been ran since you clicked "Make available to Clients" for the inventory to have been updated.
Go to Query - My Queries - New Query
Step 8 - Add the following into your Query. Please note in the bottom right I changed the word Version to IE version.
Step 9 - Save the query and double click! You have now successfully added a custom registry to inventory, and created a query for it.
